Location: Netherlands (preference for Amsterdam), although commutable from Solihull, UK would be considered - Hybrid

Role Overview
The Data Scientist is a vital member of the Data & Analytics team within MVH Europe, responsible for applying advanced analytical techniques to support veterinary health and business strategies. This role collaborates with diverse stakeholders, including veterinary experts, business leaders, and IT teams, to translate complex data into actionable insights. The Data Scientist contributes to the development and deployment of scalable data science solutions, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and data governance standards, while supporting continuous improvement and innovation across the team.
Key Responsibilities
The Data Scientist works within the MVH Europe Data & Analytics team, collaborating with business stakeholders, data engineers and analysts to deliver data science and analytical solutions that support veterinary health and business strategy. The role focuses on developing and deploying machine learning models, preparing and analysing complex datasets, ensuring data quality and governance, and clearly communicating insights through visualisation.
Key responsibilities include:
Model Development: Build, test, deploy and maintain predictive and prescriptive models using machine learning, statistical methods, and data mining techniques
Data Preparation: Clean, transform, and structure complex datasets to enable effective analysis and modelling
Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to understand requirements and deliver actionable insights
Data Visualization: Create clear and compelling visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings and support decision‑making
Data Quality: Ensure data integrity and accuracy, identifying and addressing data quality issues
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on emerging data science tools, techniques, and best practices, applying them to improve team capabilities
Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of models, methodologies, and processes to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing
Compliance: Adhere to best practices in data governance, quality, and ethical use of data in line with Mars policies and Responsible AI principles
Education & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience
Experience
2–5 years’ experience in data science, machine learning, or statistical modelling
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and familiarity with machine learning libraries (e.g. Scikit‑learn, TensorFlow)
Preference for experience using Git and DevOps ways of working
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
Experience working with large datasets and data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including fluency in English
Ability to prioritise, multi‑task, and work to tight deadlines
Demonstrated focus on continuous learning and development of technical and business skills
