The team
You will join the Mars Veterinary Health Europe (MVHE) Health, Safety, Risk & Security team, reporting directly to the Senior Health & Safety, Risk & Security Manager.
In this role, you will hold operational safety responsibility for the Nordics region, supporting a varied network of veterinary hospitals, clinics, and specialist establishments. Working in partnership with local clinical managers, practice staff, and central functions, you serve as the trusted link between strategic European safety policies and daily clinic operations. The team operates at a purposeful, agile pace, emphasizing collaborative problem-solving, pragmatic risk controls, and continuous safety culture improvement across diverse cultural and operational environments.
What you'll do
Framework Implementation & Operational Advisory: Lead the rollout of health, safety, fire, risk, and security standards across Spain and Portugal—providing practical, day-to-day counsel to operational leaders and clinic managers tailored to each facility's clinical profile.
Risk Assessments & Safe Systems of Work: Partner with clinic teams to conduct risk assessments and embed proportionate safe systems of work and preventive controls that match actual operational exposure.
Compliance Inspections & Site Visits: Conduct proactive H&S audits, regular compliance reviews, and ad hoc site visits—actively assisting local teams with gap closure, change management, and facility improvements.
Incident Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Lead investigations for incidents and near-misses, evaluate accident trends to capture actionable lessons learned, and implement continuous process enhancements across the region.
Training Delivery & European Collaboration: Develop and deliver core in-house H&S training programmes, collaborate closely with European HSRS peers to drive cross-border alignment, and provide regional performance updates to leadership.
What we’re looking for
Proven multi-site safety experience: Demonstrated track record in an occupational health and safety role, ideally gained within veterinary, healthcare, laboratory, or similarly complex multi-site operational settings.
Recognized professional qualification: Formal health and safety credential appropriate to the Nordics (NEBOSH / IOSH or equivalent local statutory qualification), along with active professional development.
Strong legislative expertise: In-depth working knowledge of occupational health, safety, and fire safety regulations, with proven capability in pragmatic compliance implementation; experience managing compliance across the Nordics is an advantage.
Cross-cultural communication & influence: Strong interpersonal, coaching, and stakeholder-management skills, capable of building credibility with frontline clinic teams and country leadership alike. Fluency in Swedish and English is required; Norwegian or Danish language skills are a plus.
Pragmatic, risk-based mindset: A proactive problem-solver who can prioritize effectively, travel across the region as needed, and deliver clear, workable controls without unnecessary administrative burden.
