Role overview
The Area Medical Business Partner plays a key role in driving clinical excellence, patient safety and associate development across a defined group of clinics within an Operating Unit. Acting as a hands-on clinical leader and coach, the role partners closely with operational leaders and veterinary teams to embed medical priorities, strengthen clinical leadership and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality care.
Operating at the intersection of clinical practice and business performance, the Area Medical Business Partner ensures that medical standards, patient outcomes and commercial objectives are aligned. The role translates central clinical strategy into effective site-level execution, supporting sustainable improvements across clinics.
The role reports to the Operating Unit Medical Director and operates as a critical link between central medical teams and frontline clinical practice.
Function
The Medical Function within MVH Europe is responsible for advancing clinical excellence, patient safety and professional development across all Operating Units. It ensures that clinical standards, governance frameworks and medical priorities are consistently applied, supporting both patient outcomes and long-term business performance.
Team
This is a field-based role working across a defined group of clinics within an Operating Unit. The role collaborates closely with Area Managers, Clinical Directors, Practice Managers and veterinary teams, as well as central functions including Medical, Quality & Patient Safety, P&O and Learning & Development.
While the role has no direct line management responsibility, it drives impact through coaching, influence and strong cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Site-Level Clinical Leadership & Coaching
Conduct regular, structured visits to assigned clinics, prioritised based on performance and support needs.
Coach and mentor Clinical Directors and veterinary teams to strengthen clinical leadership and embed continuous improvement.
Promote consistent adoption of clinical best practices and patient safety standards in line with medical governance frameworks.
Maintain strong awareness of the regulatory and professional landscape, engaging with relevant external bodies where appropriate.
Performance Monitoring & Improvement
Monitor clinic-level clinical performance metrics to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
Use data insights to define coaching priorities and guide targeted improvement plans.
Support clinics in implementing and sustaining improvements in quality of care, clinical consistency and patient outcomes.
Patient Safety & Incident Management
Act as escalation point for serious clinical incidents and high-risk client complaints.
Ensure appropriate follow-up, documentation and shared learning in collaboration with Quality & Patient Safety and Client Experience teams.
Execution of Medical Priorities
Partner with Area Managers and field teams to deliver medical initiatives and priorities defined at Operating Unit or central level.
Collaborate with Medical Project Partners to translate strategic clinical priorities into effective site-level execution.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Act as a key liaison between clinics and central teams across Medical, Operations and People functions.
Work in close partnership with Area Managers to ensure alignment on clinical and commercial performance.
Contribute to a strong medical-operational partnership across clinics and regions.
Clinical & Commercial Impact
Use clinical and operational data to assess the effectiveness of coaching and support interventions.
Drive measurable improvements in patient outcomes, team engagement and clinic performance.
Track progress against key metrics and adapt approach to maximise impact.
Board Representation
Represent the organisation in board or governance roles where required.
Support broader organisational responsibilities and external representation as needed within the country.

Education & Professional Qualifications
Veterinary degree or Registered/Certified Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification (or equivalent) — essential.
Leadership or management training (formal or informal) — preferred.
Knowledge / Experience
Minimum 6+ years’ experience in clinical practice, including team leadership.
Strong experience in coaching, mentoring and developing clinical teams.
Ability to translate clinical strategy into practical, site-level implementation.
Strong understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and performance improvement.
