Role Overview:
The Director, Record to Report (R2R) Operations leads the accounting teams across the European region, driving accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence across all R2R processes, including Closing & Reporting, General Accounting, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, and Lease Accounting.
As a key member of the MVH Europe Financial Operations Leadership Team, this role partners closely with in-country accounting teams, regional and global stakeholders, and external partners to ensure high-quality financial reporting and robust controls.
The role is instrumental in shaping the R2R strategy for MVH Europe, expanding the MVH Global Business Services (GBS) footprint, and delivering a well-controlled, standardized, and efficient operating model. It ensures high performance against SLAs, KPIs, and budgets while leading transformation and developing strong talent across the region.
Key Responsibilities
1. R2R Vision and Strategy
- Partner with the MVH Europe Financial Operations Head, Global and Regional GBS teams, and Controllership to drive the strategic direction for R2R operations.
- Evaluate, design, and implement changes in the operating model to enhance harmonization, standardization, and automation of accounting processes.
- Contribute to strengthening the overall financial health and quality of accounts across the organization.
2. Financial Statement Accuracy
- Accountable for the material accuracy of MVH Europe-prepared financial statements.
- Lead all key accounting and control activities impacting financial results, including period close meetings and balance sheet reviews.
- Drive accountability for reconciliation quality and act as the primary leader of the Financial Closing & Reporting process.
3. Talent Leadership
- Provide strong line management, developing and motivating associates to deliver high performance.
- Identify and nurture talent, ensuring a pipeline of capable finance professionals.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
4. Operational Performance
- Oversee journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and other key accounting activities (e.g., Treasury, Overheads, MAB, Taxes).
- Partner with OU Closing & Reporting and SSC Heads to meet close timelines and deliverables.
- Govern R2R operations through clear SLAs, KPIs, and performance management frameworks.
- Ensure adherence to strong control and compliance standards.
5. BPO Management and Partnering for Success
- Lead and manage relationships with external vendors/BPO partners to ensure quality delivery of R2R processes.
- Drive productivity improvements and operational savings through vendor collaboration and governance.
- Implement fit-for-purpose contractual terms and three-tiered governance models for partner oversight.
6. General Accounting Transformation
- Lead programs to streamline general accounting processes, eliminate manual activities, and embed automation to enable a one-day close.
- Champion standardization and technology-driven transformation across markets and within the global R2R community.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and quality-of-accounts principles across the region.
7. Financial Audit and Internal Controls
- Ensure effective internal controls and segregation of duties across R2R processes.
- Partner with internal/external auditors and Mars Controllership teams to maintain a strong control environment.
- Own the audit relationship, overseeing annual audit deliverables and operational reviews.
8. Business Continuity and Master Data Management
- Develop and deploy robust Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans for MVH Europe Financial Operations and partners.
- Lead financial master data governance initiatives, partnering with GPOs, Digital Technology (DT), and relevant stakeholders.

Education & Professional Qualification
- Academic degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Advanced qualification or certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFA, ACCA) preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience in finance, accounting, or shared services leadership.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
- Strong expertise in accounting principles, financial operations, and internal controls.
- ERP systems proficiency (Oracle, OneStream, Blackline preferred).
- Experience designing and managing internal control frameworks; strong knowledge of GAAP, auditing standards, and Mars Finance Manual.
- Experience managing BPO vendors and global shared services environments.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing senior finance professionals.
- Strong transformation mindset with proven process improvement achievements.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
